Privacy Policy

🔒 Draftwell Pro is a local-first app. Your manuscript, notes, entities, and writing data live on your own machine. We do not collect, transmit, or store your book content — ever.

1. What Draftwell Pro Is

Draftwell Pro is a desktop writing application for Windows and macOS. It runs locally on your computer. All book data — scenes, chapters, notes, entities, relationships, writing sessions, and export files — is stored in .auth files on your own hard drive. No account is required to use the app.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

Draftwell Pro does not collect, transmit, or have access to:

Your manuscript text, scenes, chapters, or notes
Entity names, relationships, or story structure
Writing session times or word counts
Query tracker entries or submission data
To-do board items
Export files or generated documents
License keys or payment information (handled by our payment processor — see Section 6)

3. Optional Cloud Sync (Google Drive & Dropbox)

Draftwell Pro includes an optional cloud sync feature that lets you back up and sync your books to your personal Google Drive or Dropbox account. This feature is entirely opt-in — it is disabled by default and requires you to explicitly connect an account.

When cloud sync is enabled:

Your .auth book files are uploaded to your own Google Drive or Dropbox account — not to any Draftwell Pro server.
We do not have access to your cloud storage account or the files within it.
OAuth tokens (used to authenticate with Google or Dropbox) are stored locally on your machine in the app's data folder. They are never transmitted to Draftwell Pro servers.
You can disconnect cloud sync at any time from the Cloud Sync settings page, which revokes the app's access to your cloud account.

When using Google Drive, your use of that service is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. When using Dropbox, your use is governed by Dropbox's Privacy Policy.

4. Analytics

The Draftwell Pro website (this page and draftwellpro.github.io) uses Clicky for anonymous visitor analytics. This collects standard web analytics data (page views, referrers, approximate geographic location) and does not track individuals across sites. The Draftwell Pro desktop application itself contains no analytics or telemetry.

5. Payments

Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment information.

6. Children's Privacy

Draftwell Pro is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will address it promptly.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as features change. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
